CHILDREN'S SERVICES:

South Children's provides a variety of weekly and monthly programs designed to promote literacy and a love of the library. To learn about our programs, please visit the MCMLS calendar.

TEENS:

SAT/ACT Assesment Test
South Branch Saturday, Oct. 18, 12:00 or call 936-442-7727.
Open to all teens ages 14 and up.
Need to find out how your going to do on the SAT or the ACT? Then sign up here for the Princeton Review SAT/ACT Assesment Test! Teens will be given a test on Saturday, October 18th and on Saturday, October 25th teens will get their test scores back and a Princeton Review staff member will be on hand to help teens and parents analyze their score.

Teens will need to register for this event.

BOOK CLUBS: 

It’s Not Your Mother’s Book Club

Participants must be between the Age of 13-18.

Tween Book Club
At each meeting Tweens aged 9 through 12 will get to discuss that month’s book with each other, the Children’s Librarian, and the YA Librarian. Call or sign up at the 1st Floor Children’s Desk. Age: 9 to 12 years
Seniors Circle Book Club
First Tuesday of each month from 10:30 - 11:30 AM, beginning in October. This book club is geared toward seniors, but it is open to adults 18 and up. We will discuss both fiction and nonfiction titles.
 
  • December 2nd (Any mystery by Agatha Christie) - Registration starts Nov. 5th
  • January 6th ("The Memory Keeper's Daughter" by Kim Edwards) - Registration starts Dec. 3rd
  • February 3rd ("Seabiscuit: An American Legend" by Laura Hillenbrand) - Registration starts Jan. 7th
  • March 3rd ("The Age of Innocence" by Edith Wharton) - Registration starts Feb. 4th

The first five participants to register for each meeting will get a free copy of the upcoming book to be discussed. Light refreshments will be served at the meetings. To register or ask questions, please call 936-442-7727, ext. 365 or come to the 2nd floor reference desk.

COMPUTERS:

Computer classes
These classes are free to the public. Patrons who want to participate in these classes need only come into the library and sign up for them at the second floor Reference Desk. All classes take place in the 2nd floor computer lab: Click here for Calendar.

ADULTS:

Seniors Circle Book Club

Winter 2009 meetings are January 6th ("The Memory Keeper's Daughter" by Kim Edwards), February 3rd ("Seabiscuit: An American Legend" by Laura Hillenbrand), and March 3rd ("The Age of Innocence" by Edith Wharton). Meetings take place from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.

Registration begins December 3rd. To register, visit the 2nd floor reference desk or call (936) 442-7727, ext. 365.

Family Game Night

Join us the first Monday of every month for at your library. Bring the whole family, and play family-friendly board games. Many games will be provided, and light refreshments will be served. All ages are welcome, and families are encouraged to bring food and drinks. Note: this is an entire-family event, and parents should attend with their children. 6-8 p.m.
